La aparición en la educación Secundaria Básica de la figura del Profesor General integral plantea ante las universidades pedagógicas los problemas relacionados con su modelo y desempeño profesionales. La realización de estas tareas puede fundamentarse teóricamente en un sistema de competencias pedagógicas que ya ha permitido determinar los objetivos de la carrera y realizar el diagnóstico del desempeño actual del docente; esto último ha facilitado identificar la brecha que separa, en el momento presente, el desempeño de los profesores del ideal de PGI.

The appearance of the general integral teacher in Secondary Schools establishes to pedagogical universities the problems related to its behaviour and professional role. The accomplishment of this task may be theoretically accomplished by a system of pedagogical competences which has aloud to determine the carrier objectives and to develop the diagnostic of the teaching behaviour, facilitating the identification of the breach that separates, at present time, the teaching behaviour and the ideal of general integral teacher we want to form.
